Meet Mike Brown
Mike's Story
Mike is a 6th generation Kansan, raised in KCK, Leavenworth, Bonner Springs and Shawnee. He graduated from SMNW in 1987 and attended JCCC and KSU.
Mike is a general contractor focusing on commercial construction. Prior to being a general contractor, Mike started his own homebuilding company in 1990 and became the largest homebuilder/land developer in the Kansas City metropolitan area from 1999-2001 building over 200 homes per year. Mike has indirectly employed teams of thousands of Kansans and directly had a field and office staff of 27 people.
Mike and Kristi live in Overland Park with their rescue dog and cat. They have 5 grown children. - Laura is 26 and a nurse in Dallas, Michael is an engineer in the KC metro, Roan is a senior at University of Arkansas, John works in the construction and home repair industry in the KC Metro, and Mary Morgan is a senior at Olathe West HS.
Mike served as a Johnson County Commissioner from 2017-2021. With having a focus on serving his community, Mike has also served as a JoCo Parks & Rec Commissioner, on the Kansas State Workforce Development Board, the Kansas Black Chamber of Commerce, as well as in many other capacities. Politically, Mike has served on many political campaigns including Shallenburger for Governor (2002) and Lindstrom for County Commission (2004 & 2008.).
Mike served as the 2007 President of the Homebuilders’ Association of Greater Kansas City and is on the KCHBA Boards of Directors and other various roles for nearly two decades.
